Tampa's SUE Division Finishes Project for New Roller Coaster at Busch Gardens

Tampa's Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Division recently finished a project for a new roller coaster at Busch Gardens.

In order for the Contractor to safely evacuate the area for demolition and new construction, existing utilities needed to be mapped. Using SSMC's state-of-the-art Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic utility locating equipment, we were able to successfully accomplish that goal. By performing SUE at the beginning of the project, our client was able to make informed decisions to avoid costly conflicts and delays. It is shown in a study done by Purdue University, that every dollar spent on SUE saves an average of $4.62 per project. Read more about the study at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/programadmin/pus.cfm

This project was a great success, with the new roller coaster opening on time in accordance with the construction schedule.
