SSMC cares!
SSMC’s Jim Mazurak participates in “Florida Engineers in the Classroom” presentations with local engineers. This is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program that visits 5th grade elementary schools to promote surveying and engineering career interest.
Jim also volunteers with Orlando Cares by participating in PathFinders as a Career Coach. He visits Orlando Middle Schools and speaks with students about careers in Surveying and Mapping. This summer, PathFinders was led by volunteers at Lee, Carver and Memorial Middle Schools, serving more than 250 students.
Excerpt from a Letter of Commendation from Mayor Buddy Dyer:
“Your dedication to these programs has truly made a significant impact in the lives of our children and youth. I hope you will continue to volunteer as we offer these enriching programs to more students. Through Orlando Cares, you are helping to improve the quality of life in our City by developing our most important resource...our youth.
Your gifts of your time and talent are sincerely appreciated.”
Jim enjoys talking with the kids about our profession. Good job, Jim!

SSMC Adds 360 degree Imagery for Roadside Asset Inventory
In addition to the collection of continuous roadway pavement surface images for pavement condition assessment, Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corporation (SSMC) is pleased to announce that we have upgraded our Mobile Imaging Vehicle by adding the ability to collect seamless 360 degree images of the roadway and surrounding rights of way while driving at posted speed limits. Similar to Google’s Streetview images, these images allow SSMC’s technicians to identify roadside any assets, and tag the asset with a photograph as part of a transportation asset inventory. This technology is ideally suited for the inventory of traffic signs, guardrails, pavement striping, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, curb ramps and roadway shoulders.
